Nomad dance advocates in Belgrade
Nomad Dance Academy platform together with its Serbian partners represented by Station Service for contemporary dance have the pleasure to invite you to NOMAD DANCE ADVOCATES IN BELGRADE 2017 - an international advocacy gathering for contemporary dance that will take place on 20th and 21st October 2017 in Cultural Center Magacin in Belgrade.
Nomad Dance Academy (NDA) is a platform of artists and cultural producers from the field of contemporary dance in six Balkan countries (Bulgaria, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, Macedonia, Serbia, and Slovenia). It was created in 2005 to foster regional cultural cooperation in our region, support various actors in the field of contemporary dance practice, theory, critique and production and to introduce education, new production opportunities, better working conditions and wide visibility of this art field in our countries.
Contemporary dance is one of the most vibrant and challenging art fields in the Balkans. It contributes to recognition of the Balkan contemporary performing arts around the world. However, basic conditions and long-term support are lacking and therefore our most talented artists and professionals leave to countries offering better opportunities.
We need cultural policies which care for the working conditions, participation and transparency to maintain this dynamic sector and to make the best out of our Region’s existing alliances such as Nomad Dance Academy.
NOMAD DANCE ADVOCATES is the third gathering that Nomad Dance Academy organizes in the frame of this long-term initiative of advocating for dance. Since the previous gatherings (Skopje, 2012; Sofia, 2015), many positive changes took place in the countries and cities whose decision-makers took place in those gatherings.To continue these efforts, we cordially invite you to join the Nomad Dance Advocates in Belgrade.
Your presence is important for the support of cultural collaboration and exchange in the Balkans. One of the core aims of the gathering is to contribute to a better understanding between the dance field actors and the decision-makers.
NOMAD DANCE ADVOCATES IN BELGRADE will gather more than 70 Serbian,
Balkan and international artists, theoreticians, curators and programmers, policy-makers and academics. It will be the introduction to the 10th KONDENZ Festival of contemporary dance and performance and it will present art works and practices to the participants and wide audience.
We sincerely hope that you will join us in Belgrade this fall and lay foundation for new alliances in future.
